Butterfly Chaos – A YA Disaster Horror Novel
Three months after her cousin Toni died, Cassie is still reeling. Toni’s best friend now ignores her in the halls. Cassie’s cousin is dating the girl who torments her in gym. And Cassie has maybe a teeny-tiny crush on the boy who found Toni in the river. Then Toni’s ghost visits Cassie and reveals that in two nights, a powerful tornado will rip into a dance hall, killing those three kids. Cassie sets out to keep everyone from going to the dance. As she argues and cajoles (and stockpiles minor munitions to clear the building, just in case) she uncovers stories about her friends’ connections with Toni – and all the reasons they refuse to skip this awesome dance. Despite everything Cassie does to change their destiny, they find themselves directly in the killer tornado’s path. In those last moments as the tornado bears down on them, Cassie must find a rock to cling to as the whole world is torn to pieces around her.

What Readers Are Saying
A story of loss and redemption that will keep you on the edge of your seat! What would you do if a ghost told you the people you care about were going to die unless you stopped it? This book will grab you by the heart and drag you back to middle school, bullies, embarrassments, mean gym teachers, crushes, and all! If you enjoy a clean middle grade read that takes on serious topics, you will absolutely LOVE Butterfly Chaos!” – Amrit S. Khalsa, Amazon reviewer ★★★★★
The tornado scenes (there are four of them) were some of the best I’ve ever read. Then again, they may be the only I’ve ever read, but that doesn’t diminish their effectiveness in my mind. The people in the book are great, too. Cordell does a good job portraying small town Midwestern life without the stereotypes people NOT from this area will give you when they try to write about it. You really feel for the characters in the book and the choices they make. Overall, a good read and definitely recommended.” – C. Dennis Moore, Amazon reviewer ★★★★★
Things I enjoyed about this book: good writing, good dialogue, Cassie’s snark and no b.s. attitude, the tension-filled storm scenes, Cassie’s big family with a ton of cousins and aunts and uncles. I wanted her family. ” – Kyla S, Amazon reviewer ★★★★★
