It’s that time again! Time for this month’s Random Reads. I hope you all were able to get last month’s RR read and reviewed (reviewing is optional of course though). Last month I picked and read Genesis by Bernard Beckett. You can see my review for it here.
In short, Random Reads is a meme where we pick a random book from our shelf to read within the month. I’m on Goodreads so I’m using a combination of the sorting feature and Random.org to pick the book I’m going to read.

It’s easy…
- If you’re on Goodreads enable sorting to your to-read shelf (you should see numbers next to each book now).
- Go to Random.org and type in the Min as 1 and the Max as how many ever books are on your to-read shelf.
- Scroll down to the book matching the number Random.org picks.
- Link up to your Random Reads post (below).
- Read and be merry.
If you’re not on Goodreads just pick a random book from your list in whatever way you want to do it. You can use the method I used above or even just close your eyes and point randomly at a book on your bookshelf if you want (spin the bottle style). lol
Now onto this month’s Random Read! This month Random.org chose…
#319 on my to-read list, Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead, and it’s been on my to-read list since October 6, 2010.
This is one that I’ve been dying to read for quite a while, but I’ve really been intimidated by starting a new long(ish) series. I loved Vampire Academy so I know I love Mead’s writing style though.
This RR actually came at a perfect time though because I try to have, as a general rule, one paranormal romance series, one to two urban fantasy series’, and one young adult series I’m working on catching up on at the same time (not counting first in series books). This gives me a good variety cause I tend to get bored easily if I read the same series all in a row (with some exceptions of course like the Fever series, Vampire Academy, or Mortal Instruments for example).
I just caught up on Kate Daniels and I only have one more book left in the Chicagoland Vampire series. So I need to pick my next adult urban fantasy series I want to tackle. I was going to do Mercedes Thompson because it’s been on my to-read shelf for a LONG time, but this one has been on for just as long so I think it’s a good time. Also, it’s nice that the series is done so even though I’m sure lots of people are sad about that, at least I’ll have all the books available and won’t have to worry about any pesky cliffhangers (which I know Mead loved at least in VA so I wouldn’t be surprised to find them in this series too). 
I already have this one on hand, so I will read it soon!

I love love Richelle Mead and her Vampire Academy series. I haven't read any of her adult books, solely because I haven't had the time. I can't wait to see what you think of this one.

Thanks! I do too. I started this one cause I always have those books that just keep getting pushed down and I say "oh I'll get to that one soon", so I thought this would be good for me to finally get to those kinds of books that I never seem to get to. lol
The good news is, for me personally, the first three books I've picked have all been really good. So it's been a good experience for me so far.
Oh, I need to read her adult series, I've read all seven of her YA books, but none of her adult thus far. Must get to them! Happy reading!
