It’s that time again! Time for this month’s Random Reads. I hope you all were able to get last month’s RR read and reviewed (reviewing is optional of course though). Last month I picked and read My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. You can see my review for it here.
In short, Random Reads is a meme where we pick a random book from our shelf to read within the month. I’m on Goodreads so I’m using a combination of the sorting feature and Random.org to pick the book I’m going to read.

It’s easy…
- If you’re on Goodreads enable sorting to your to-read shelf (you should see numbers next to each book now).
- Go to Random.org and type in the Min as 1 and the Max as how many ever books are on your to-read shelf.
- Scroll down to the book matching the number Random.org picks.
- Link up to your Random Reads post (below).
- Read and be merry.
If you’re not on Goodreads just pick a random book from your list in whatever way you want to do it. You can use the method I used above or even just close your eyes and point randomly at a book on your bookshelf if you want (spin the bottle style). lol
Now onto this month’s Random Read! This month Random.org chose…
#231 on my to-read list, The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater, and it’s been on my to-read list since August 17, 2011.
Okay. I’m going to totally admit that I’ve been avoiding this one. I really loved the Wolves of Mercy Falls series, so that’s why I originally added it. But then…well then the negative reviews started rolling in and I just kept staying far, far away. But I still remain(ed) curious because I know I like Maggie’s writing. So…it’s probably a good thing I chose this as my Random Read for this month because I probably would’ve avoided it forever. haha Hopefully I’ll be in the minority with it though and end up loving (or at least liking) it.
I’ve put it on hold at my library and will read it soon!

I got this book a few days ago when it was on sale for kinlde. I too love the wolves of Mercy Falls series, and even though there were mixed reviews for this one, I can't wait to read it. Enjoy!

I'm really interested in hearing what you thought of this book. I just read Scorpio Races less than 2 weeks ago and I did like it (4 stars). I loved her Wolves of Mercy Falls series, but this is a very different read. Even though I didn't like it as much as those, still a good read. Very well written story (I do love her writing style), but I wish I had warmed up to the main female character a little more. I do understand though why this book gets mixed reviews. It's not for everyone.

I didn't like The Wolves of Mercy Falls so i didn't continue the series after the first one but I LOVED The Scorpio Races. I hope you enjoy it.
