Hey everyone! We interviewed author Nicky Blue! Read on to find out more about him and his writing!
What are your three favorite books that inspired your writing?
I love reading stories with a twist, ‘Tales of the Unexpected’ by Roald Dahl is a favourite. When I’m writing comedy I often dip into a Monty Python book, I find the anarchy inspiring!
What do you do when you’re not writing?
I’m often thinking about ideas for my next book. It’s a bit addictive this writing game…
What is the hardest thing about writing, for you?
The hardest part of writing for me is when the first draft is done and then finding the discipline to sit down and go back over it with a fine tooth comb. The writing is in the rewriting they say so I’ve been putting a lot more time into this recently.
What are you excited about right now?
I’m excited about my next novel I’m about to start writing. I’ve planned it quite meticulously and I know the characters really well so it feels like it’s bursting to come out of me. It’s the story of two competing middle-age Goths in small town England.
Which book of yours would you recommend a reader start with?
My first novella ‘Escape from Samsara’ available free on Amazon very soon. It is a dark comedy story of a man called Barry Harris who thinks he’s a deadly Ninja but is actually a middle-aged gardener who still lives with his mum.
