Author Interview: Robert D. Jones, author of the Isolde Saga

We interviewed Robert D. Jones, author of the Isolde Saga! Read on to find out his favorite books, what he does during his free time, an what he’s excited about right now!

What are your three favorite books that inspired your writing?

  1. The Lord of the Rings
  2. Game of Thrones
  3. The Hobbit

These are obviously some of the best fantasy books… ever… but I read and am inspired by a lot of different things. In terms of books, I am actually a bibliophile, I love to collect old texts and have read Dante, Shakespeare, the Tibetan Book of the Dead, The Bible, Jewish Scripture…. anything of this sort really fascinates me. I also love TV Shows, obviously the LOTR and GoT on screen were amazing. I also like drama, thrillers, horror! As long as it is well done, then I will like it.

It’s great to hear that you love the books and shows that many of your readers surely love, too! As a writer, you obviously spend a lot of time writing. But what do you do when you’re not writing?

I love to spend time with my fiancee, Lisa, my step-daughter-to-be, Shanti, our two dogs, Chiko and Bear, and our two birds, Malibu and Alaska. Otherwise, when I’m not writing, I am usually thinking of epic fantasy adventures that I would like to be writing (but I usually forget the idea when I get a pen and paper).

What’s the hardest thing about writing for you?

The hardest thing… editing… I hate editing but I must admit I love the feeling of having the story polished. Along with that, I have recently found it hard to actually write, the will is there, the plot is good, but sometimes it is hard to actually find the words. I usually work on my fantasy maps when that happens.

Sounds cool! What are you excited about right now?

Right now, I am excited about the future! I have the rest of the Isolde Saga plotted out and have the next series in my head already… I just need to finish the Isolde Saga first.

Thanks for letting us interview you, Robert! One more thing – which book of yours would you recommend a new reader start with?

I recommend my book, The Black Witch: Isolde Saga Book One!
