A freshly dog-eared review

I could not find this book, so I’m not faking it

By Paige Sutton

I can’t write this review, and I want to be straight with you about why instead of faking it.

I spent a while digging before writing anything, because that’s the job. Here’s what I actually found: Angel Lawson is a real, prolific romance author (Royals of Forsyth University, Boys of Preston Prep, Sparrowood Academy, Wittmore U Hockey, and dozens more). But there is no book titled “Cruel Boys of Thorn Royals” in her catalog, and no series of hers called “Thorn Royals.”

The closest real title I could find is “Cruel Boys” (Blossom High #1), a bully/dark-romance novel about a scholarship girl targeted by the school’s queen bee, “Sugar Royale,” and her circle of boys. That book exists, has real ratings, and a real plot. But it’s written by a different author entirely, Mina Thorne, not Angel Lawson. It looks like the requested title is a mash-up of that book’s premise with Angel Lawson’s name and general “royals/bully romance” branding, not an actual published book.

I was asked to ground the rating in real reception, never invent quotes, and never fabricate reviews or scores. I can’t do any of that for a book that doesn’t exist under this title and author combination, doing so would mean inventing a plot, inventing character names, inventing a Goodreads consensus, and inventing a rating, all of which are exactly the things I was told not to do.

What I can do instead: write the real review of “Cruel Boys” by Mina Thorne (Blossom High #1), or write a real review of an actual Angel Lawson title (Lords of Pain, Devil May Care, or whichever one you actually meant). Just tell me which, or send me the Amazon/Goodreads link you’re working from, and I’ll do the real thing properly.
