The Sound of the Stones by Beth Hammond – A YA Science Fantasy With Time-Travel

Nephilim, aliens, gods. The truth about these beings is discovered when Frankie stumbles upon an ancient book, and finds that they are not just fantasy, but part of the startling reality. When she reads about Ashra and the powerful Krad race, she begins to question her place in the world – and feels the burn of the birthmark on her arm as she works her way through the book. A birthmark that looks eerily similar to the symbol on the book’s first page. In Ashra’s world, meanwhile, the oppressive Krad use crystals to hold humans hostage. The Krad do not know that Ashra has the gift to manipulate crystals, however. Keeping her power a secret is difficult, but she has to rice up now and stand up against an entire race. She finds hope in the message that strangers from another land brings her. Frankie and Ashra are separated by fiction and reality, but the barrier shatters in the end, and Frankie is the key to unlocking the knowledge they need.
